Our photography competitions are open to photographers worldwide. Professionals and amateurs of any age are eligible to enter. We do, however, require that individuals under the age of 18 years obtain guardian consent before submitting.
We accept images that have been exhibited or published elsewhere. There are no limitations concerning when submitted images were made. Each competition is judged independently, and PhotoChronicles users are permitted to submit the same set of images more than once.
Users will retain copyright of all images submitted.
By submitting your work to a PhotoChronicles competition, you agree that the site has the right to utilize your photos for editorial activities, exhibitions, and miscellaneous promotion and advertising. All images will fully credit their creators by including each artist’s full name.
Street: For our street competition, we are looking for any sort of image that portrays an urban environment or public place. As images are judged individually, we do not require that images be a part of the same series. Users are permitted to submit up to five images to be judged.
Portrait: Portraiture photography must feature one or more people. We accept any orientation or image aspect ratio the artist desires. As images are judged individually, we do not require that images be a part of the same series. Users are permitted to submit up to five images to be judged.
Documentary: No story is too large or small to be considered for our documentary category. All we require is that the photos all be a part of a single, coherent body of work that communicates a narrative. In order to be considered for the documentary award, we require users to submit at least five images, but no more than twenty images per story.
In order to compete, all users must pay submission fees. All payments are handled securely via Stripe.com. We accept most major credit cards (Amex, Visa, Mastercard, etc) as well as Paypal.
A payment of $40 will grant users the ability to submit to all three of PhotoChronicles open calls for entry. Credits expire once the competition deadlines pass. For $80, users will be eligible to submit to any and all competitions of their choosing for the next three months.
Payments are final. We do not provide refunds, as stated in the terms and conditions users accept upon entry.
All images should be submitted as a JPEG or PNG file.
Individual files should be no larger than 2MB.
Please do not add watermarks to your submissions.
You do not need to rename or title image files.
Users are permitted to submit an artist statement alongside their submissions. All statements should be written in English and saved as a text file (.doc, .pdf, .txt, etc)
It is imperative that all users submit their image files before a competition specified deadline. Under no circumstances will late submissions be accepted.
